What else?

Now that the sky rebels,
Changed its hue to that of blood,
Asking for more
So it colour won’t fade away

Now that our creed; our everyday pledge
Sang in pride in ages past,
Now a dirge we sing like snails
          -head in shell

Now that our swords
lost the meaning of brotherhood
And each day drink blood to stupor,
Though we are told they are sticks,
But the carrier uses them on men
thinking we are cattle

Now that life is cruel,
Explosion is like fertilizer
Of which our land craves for
And violence made the movies
We watch each day saying it’s news.

What else?
Where else should we expect more?
2001 – we shouted for peace
2018 – we jos want peace
Artist made illustrations
And Poets – their pen they wield; ready for battle
Yet our leaders hid themselves in the warmth of hypocrisy
And our oppressor in broad daylight.

What else? Maranatha…

The unbelievable

I don't know blood speaks,
Until I saw a spill crying for help.
Same for a stopped heart,
Which wanders and seek who will stop more from being stopped.
I don't know dead bodies can still paint,
Until I saw a peace symbol painted by one,
and a caption "this is what we want".
Same for the land,
That painted X X X
And said "Yes, I want no more".
Excuse me, when will this stop?
When will we once again experience peace?
When will the news splash send signals of happiness?
Though we are starving.
When will our president say the truth?
One,
We are lazy youth,
Two,
The cattle herders carry nothing save a stick.
We only need one thing,
Peace!
If we need any other thing,
It is still peace.
There we could make a living.

Condolences to the bereaved family of the plateau massacre.
Dedicated to You.
