I read through my news feed on Facebook this morning to catch up latest gist and news from friends and pages I followed and there was this group I have not been active lately, so I was not aware there a challenge on, so I took my time to catch with what it is and people accepting the challenge. But there was this comment that made me write this article. It read thus;

I have been seeing people accepting this challenge, please is money involved? [Paraphrased and edited]

Well, the comment have many interpretation, only if we get that which the writer really meant, but a closer look at it is "he can't do it if money is not attached".

Sometimes, what makes our life meaningful is value, the difference between a market woman and me is the value I added to myself. Value is an essential to every man who desired greatness, it can't be traded for anything.

Have you get to a point in time when you will feel down, when you'd feel there's nothing you are capable of doing, or when some trace of inferiority complex begin to manifest? It's the value you've added to yourself overtime that will be of much help that time.

I believed life can be so cruel and apparently can be as gentle as a day old child, but in everything add value to yourself. Sometimes value does necessary results to money. That's what I saw wrong in the comment above. More than Money, add value, in due time, money will come.

Take for example, a young Kenyan lad named Kelvin Doe who was busy building a music player from scraps around his environ, who's now a visiting lecturer in Massachusetts institute of technology and was opportuned to feature in a TED talks. When he was busy adding value, he never know all these will come.

Add value, that's the best you can do to yourself, it claims some ungotten deserved respect. This is the simple truth, just try it, add value.

A dirge for 2017

I thought would love you forever,
Forgetting the fact that you'd leave one day.
I thought our days will last like that of a Palm tree,
Forgetting the fact that we have only 365 days together.

Being with you,
Is like taking a course
I've got to show up in classes and write examinations
And my attendance obviously inevitable.

I'm sorry, I've got to let go,
Yay, because you taught me to aim high.
A dirge for you,
That's the best I have for you.

"Like dinosaur
You left for extinction,
No year can be like you.
It can only come in your likeness.

Reminiscence of days
Spent together,
Make my eyes sources of
Flow unending,
And I seem blue.
at times,
I'll call for celebration,
Blessing the good memories I had
In your days.

Goodbye 2017,
Your brother 2018 took your place,
I hope he's much better than you"

Look through my archive,
In my own brain- my hard drive,
I've been alive,
Even though haven't yet arrive,
But yet I didn't crash dive.

I'm well sure enemies connive,
But God never keep their dreams alive.

I will thrive,
Just like your wishes descrived
I will survive,
Even though I find myself in a beehive.
And my prayers is your value won't nosedive,
And for good things you won't be deprived.

For the love I appreciate,
I pray it will never depreciate.
Goodness and mercy will be your associates,
Riches and goodies will always be at your gate.
For this is God's mandate.

Thank you everyone for the love you showed to me. For the call, the messages, the Facebook posts, the wishes on my timeline, the WhatsApp statuses. I really appreciate it. I'm humbled by your testimonies and much reason I need to get better.

I'm not writing this because it's normal to say thank you -maybe that's why it's coming late. But when I reflected, I felt loved and I need to say thank you to everyone.

I'm well sure next year will be greater as you've challenged me.

Let's get better together,
See you at the top.

Let’s do a visitation,
To yourself, you caged in a cage,
Let’s get some refreshment,
To feed your inner man who starved for ages.

Days are counting, time is going,
Gray hairs are rushing
To manifest and weakened you,
Yet your real self was bolted.
Locked in the cage you built with your own hands.

You’ve got a definition,
Can I ask what?
Out of frustration you threw the key,
That unlocks desires along with unwanted responsibilities,
Away in an abyss that can't be reach,
Because you don’t want to reach.

Back in the days when you boil,
When you vow to rise and shine,
And be a powerful solvent that extracts dreams,
From ‘guys’ who run and shout for help,
But now they are the one who volunteered to help,
And help you get back on the track.

What has become of you, my dear?
You used to set the pace while others follow,
But now you are on the sycamore tree watching,
Applauding men who make waves in their generation,
On the sideline you are, saying,
‘I used to be a contestant in that race’

Let’s go on a visitation please,
And visit you locked in the prison,
Which you built with your own hands,
Let’s write an appeal dear,
To yourself who judged yourself
And sentenced yourself to life imprisonment.

You can always be better,
Pardon yourself and move on,
Greater heights lie ahead to stand and shine,
And a brighter future to explore.

Lost in limbo
Searching for peace,
On the lookout for happiness,
Who knows it's right here?
Tied to the tip of my belt,
Ring its alarm,
Drawing attention,
But I know not
For I'm engrossed with the unfulfilling search.

Who knows it's within?
Who knows no one sells happiness,
And peace is not what they hawk?
Would have save the stress of searching
Can concentrate on building a bridge,
That leads to within,
Where I get peace and happiness.

There were days I fell,
I cried and wept,
And lay helpless,
Seeking help,
But found none
Instead, shame and mockery is what I found,
They stuck me like plagues,
And I couldn't help myself.

But behold I rose,
Beating expectations to pulp,
Treading on days of 'no-motivation'
Maximizing the strength I found,
And making my way to limelight.

"With a standing ovation,
Welcome Òtáìbáyòmí"
That was the compensating moment,
A reward for shame and mockery,
And one for not giving up.

Never give up,
Does it seem long?
Tarry please,
The future is here,
And before you know it,
You are already where you desire.

Always Long to get better, it's not always about your height, but the heights you reached.

How I sneered when they say it's impossible,
and a whisper from my soul came in agreement,
even though my body and soul were subjected,
to excellence and the pursuit of greatness.

If you say the fire is burning on a river,
I must see the ashes.
neglecting the possibility of being superstitious,
I chose to believe without seeing the ashes.

Here comes the rising sun from the west,
defying every law that held its wonderful exhibition
smooching the sky, who is utterly flabbergasted and stupefied.

We are the rising sun from the west,
making the impossible possible,
and our accolades filled with with stunning achievement,
that made the crowns call upon us for wisdom exhibition.

Voice of the street, talk of the town,
news headlines and article topics.
the world couldn't deny our existence,
even if we spent a day on the terrestial ball.

With eyes closed and heart opened,
We silently say our wishes,
Momentarily, more desires flow in,
Like a stream, it glides the heart of our hearts.

On birth we set out,
Like a hiker at the foot of a mountain,
We wished we magically find our place at the top,
But to get there, climbing is inevitable.

They told us it's a race,
A quest to search the unsearchable,
In the silent wood afar,
Isn't it simple as ABC?

Even if you have nothing to seek,
You must go through the dreadful forest,
With your safety tied to your hands,
Like a bracelet that beautifies you.

Inevitable journey in the woods
Seeking what defines our existence,
What earn us an honour than a minute silence,
And a name than "Late Mr. So So So.
